Multi-channel Publishing

Multi-channel publishing means publishing the same content to several different formats. For example, content can simultaneously be published to:

  • Printed products (books, manuals)
  • Electronic products (CDs, wireless devices)
  • Web sites
  • Accessible publications for visually impaired persons (Braille, voice translation devices)

Content, for instance an instruction manual can be delivered as a printed book and as an electronic file on a CD. Simultaneously, the same instruction manual can also be published to a Web page, tablet or a mobile. The instruction manual's content doesn't change; only the form in which it is delivered to the intended "consumer" changes. The content is published in more than one media channel, allowing the content to reach a wider audience through these different channels. Multi-channel publishing should not be confused with multi-target publishing, this is a more technical term related to publishing content to different hardware targets (servers).
If you have an environment with multi-channel and even multi-target publishing but have no idea how to organise the publication mechanisme to get this all working perfectly? Contact us at services@malooconsulting.com or fill in the form on our Contact Us page.
